Roadtrip with friends in the Landes

Take the road to Hossegor, where it all starts

There are departures that feel like a reunion. This is one of them. The boards are already in the truck, the bags thrown in the back, and the group's excitement builds after the first few kilometers.

As expected, everyone met up at Tom's house at 8 am to work out the final details, share a quick coffee, and check that nothing was missing. Then it's time to hit the road: direction Hossegor, only fifteen minutes from bonjourSauvage Seignosse, to kick off the weekend you've all been waiting for.

You know Hossegor by heart. However, each arrival has something particular. Morning light, salty air, and that special feeling of being in exactly the right place. The beach is almost empty when you arrive. And as always, the first sentence comes naturally:

“Are we going to have coffee in front of the ocean? ” Nobody can resist it. You get back to your habits, your rituals, your laughs — everything that makes for a successful weekend with friends. Once you have regained your energy, you head off to La Centrale for the first session. The water is fresh, the movements a bit hesitant at first, but very quickly everything comes back. The slides, the falls, the bursts of laughter. It's gone.

Discover the Landes: nature, ocean and the sweetness of life

At noon, you meet up for a simple but perfect picnic, one that feels good after a first session. In the afternoon, a change of scenery: focus on La Gravière, legendary spot in Hossegor. There, the waves have a reputation, and they confirm it. The waves are beautiful, a bit too candid for a recovery. They require attention, energy, sometimes a bit of humility. Everyone tries, progresses, gives up, starts again. Finally, you come out of the water rinsed but happy, carried by this fatigue that feels good.

The clock is ticking; it is time to discover the accommodation reserved. A modern, bright, well-appointed space, which naturally welcomes feedback from sessions. You settle in quickly, you find soft comfort: rooms that invite you to nap, a terrace perfect for lying down after a day at sea, a simple setting that lets you breathe. Tom would have stayed there until noon if you hadn't kindly pushed him outside.

The next day, a new project takes shape: surfing at Mimizan, or maybe at Biscarrosse. The common desire led the group to Mimizan. Evan loves this area, he's been talking about it all along. An hour away with five people, windows ajar, music playing in the background — the kind of trip that's as much a part of the weekend as the waves themselves. Once there, the ocean offers a different face. Softer, more welcoming waves, perfect for fully recovering your sensations. The session is fluid, pleasant. A moment that anchors this weekend as a successful date.

Back to Seignosse at the end of the day...

The ocean calms down, the waves fall silent, and the air starts to smell like evening. At the Wild Club, we are waiting for you. A soft light, a counter where cocktails inspired by the Southwest are served and simple plates made from local products are served. You sit around a large table, still marked by salt and sand, your planks placed against the wall. The first bites arrive, the conversations are mixed: stories of successful waves, memorable falls, lines that we almost kept. Sometimes, a silence settles in, just enough time to listen to the wood crack, the soft music, the sea that you can guess in the distance. It's not a game or an animation. It is a suspended moment, a space to be together in a different way, far from what we usually associate with a classic stay. A moment that gives the group new energy.

Later in the evening, you decide to extend this momentum around the restaurant recommended by the reception. An unpretentious address, just the right amount of sincerity and taste. The service is warm, the plates tell the story of Landes, and everyone finds exactly what they wanted to end this day punctuated by the ocean.

Escape to Biarritz, surf shop
and local specialties

The next day, you take the road to biarritz, which welcomes you as she knows how to do: a mixture of elegance, energy and softness. Very quickly, you come across the covered halls and you do not take long to taste the local specialties, and to let yourself be guided by the scents, by the colors and that unique charm that floats in the alleys.

Then a quick trip to the surf shops to finally leave with a wetsuit, a cap and a nice t-shirt from the local brand Parlementia. A simple, light keepsake, but one that will remain.

Last sensations: rafting, Seignosse market and evening at the lake

In the evening, there is no desire to cook. You order a nice aperitif board at the campsite restaurant - Pardon du village - BonjourSauvage Seignosse, and it's a success. Head to the shores of Lac de l'Étang Blanc, a peaceful place where the sun sets gently over the water. Silence sets in naturally, everyone enjoying the moment in their own way. A calm, beautiful, almost suspended scene.

For your last day, you imagined a session at Capbreton, but the conditions are not ideal. It is then an opportunity to realize an idea that has been in your head since the beginning: rafting. The choice is great. The living water, the laughter, the splashes, the adrenaline: a different, energizing experience, perfect to conclude the stay.

Back to the hotel, you pass by the Seignosse market to prepare a last meal. Local oysters, duck breast, Landes pie... a trio that tells the region better than any postcard. You have lunch together, then some people lie in the sun while others go swimming.

The afternoon glides slowly towards the end of the stay. We pack up, we close the luggage, we leave the accommodation ready for departure. Then we consider a last drink at the Wild Club, which the whole group accepted without hesitation. And as always, one last idea arises: “What if tomorrow morning we went paddleboarding at Lake Hossegor, with some oysters, just before taking the road back? ” Nobody refuses. Obviously...
